Labor-rights group IndustriAll Global Union recently reported that two Cambodian garment workers have died from exhaustive working conditions–making 2014 the first year that garment workers have died on the job. The labor group blames the garment factories, which manufacture clothes for major Western brands such as Old Navy and Gap, for forcing the workers into long overtime hours for meager pay in unsafe conditions. Poor working conditions and chronic malnutrition due to “poverty pay” have also been blamed for mass faintings in the past.
