Photographer Renee Bergeron is a superhero, being the mother of 14 children. She began, as many parents do, capturing her own children in photos. Her son Apollo, who was born with a double aortic arch and who has bravely endured multiple surgeries and medical setbacks, fancies himself a superhero, so naturally, Bergeron snapped photos of him donning his cape. Apollo enjoyed the photos so much that Bergeron realized she needed to capture more images of pint-sized superheroes with special needs. Thus was born her Superhero Project, in which the photographer offers her services at no charge to families of special children who need a little extra encouragement to feel super.
