The city of Dyersburg, Tennessee is gaining national attention after making a brash and merciless decision to sentence a dog to death. The two-and-a-half-year-old Golden Retriever and White German Shepard mix named Beau was caught by animal control officials after he killed a neighbor’s duck, which wandered onto his own property. Though Beau has no previous history of aggression, the city seems to be taking unnecessarily cruel measures to reprimand the pup for an isolated incident. Beau’s owner, Danny Higgins, is now fighting back with the rest of the country to circumvent his dog’s heart-wrenching fate by petitioning Dyersburg to free poor Beau before he is euthanized on November 20, 2014. The petition on Change.org has gained over 300,000 signatures, but over 180,000 are still needed.
