Portuguese architect Eduardo Benamor Duarte designed Animada, a sculptural chair made from ash ribs set in an undulating pattern. Designed for the international event Art on Chairs’ Duets, Duarte’s chair was made to complement the animistic themes found in Paulo Coelho’s literary work. Following the belief that every non-human form has a spiritual essence, the Animada chair is made from a series of identical ribs that individually rotate to create the illusion of movement. The ash ribs are attached to a metal white tube frame.
