China has a long road to travel before its environment can even start to improve. That’s according to a recent announcement by the Chinese government that says the country needs to cut its emissions by as much as half before any serious improvements can be made to its environment. Reuters reports that China’s deputy minister of environmental protection Zhai Qing told a briefing over the weekend that pollutants have been cut only “a few percentage points” since 2006, and much more is needed before any progress can be made.
