Dutch designer Gerard de Hoop recently unveiled his latest iteration of Grid, a freestanding geometric bookcase comprising 12 wooden frames of varying widths. Made of oak or American ash, Grid shows how intelligent composition can transform a collection of simple objects, such as the open frames, into a functional yet beautiful work of art. When viewed from different vantage points, the frames appear to be floating relative to each other. The multifunctional Grid can be used as a bookcase or as a room divider, and is conveniently shipped flat-pack.
